This breakthrough technology is initially available primarily in maturity groups 2 and 3, where more than 50 percent of U.S. soybeans are grown. It is now available in all of Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio and Pennsylvania; most of Illinois and Indiana; portions of northern Missouri, Kansas and Maryland, and portions of southern Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and South Dakota. A full-scale product launch will take place in 2010. So no matter where you farm, you will soon be able to try high-yielding Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybean products for yourself.

Innovations in Seed Treatment

Acceleron Seed Treatment Products Asgrow is committed to delivering novel products and technologies that enhance farmers' yield potential and profitability. Our new proprietary seed treatment, Acceleron™, designed specifically for Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans, delivers more value by providing early-season protection against diseases such as pythium, phytophthora, rhizoctonia and fusarium. By providing better plant health, this innovative seed treatment maximizes the performance potential of Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans.

Innovations in Packaging

Asgrow has also introduced the Asgrow AccuSure™ Seed Count System for its Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybean seed in both paper and mini-bulk bags. The increased precision in seed count will give farmers the ability to move seamlessly from seed purchases to field planting calculations.

Asgrow has taken the guesswork out of bulk seed packaging by selling seed by count instead of by weight. Each bag of Asgrow Brand Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® seed, regardless of variety, will provide the same number soybean seed. Farmers will be able to expect a consistent 140,000 seed in every bag. Mini-bulk units will contain the equivalent of 40 bags or a consistent 5.6 million seed. The physical size of the bag may vary but the seed count will remain consistent, just like corn or cotton products. This means that inventory management and invoicing will be simplified for farmers and dealers alike. The Asgrow AccuSure Seed Count System provides equitable value to farmers so they know exactly how many units to buy based on the number of acres they need to plant.

Meet the Asgrow® Brand Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® Challenge Finalists

To generate enthusiasm for the launch of Asgrow® Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® technology in 2009, we invited farmers who planted it to participate in the first-ever Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield Challenge. Farmers across the Midwest competed for the highest-yielding Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield field, and now three finalists are in the running for the grand prize: a one-of-a-kind Asgrow edition Ranger® bass boat to be presented at the 2010 Commodity Classic in March. Mark Boender, Oskaloosa, Iowa

89.3 bushels per acre yield with Asgrow® Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield®

Mark Boender has been raising corn and soybeans for the past 10 years. He currently farms with his father, Steve, and brothers, Mike, BJ, Kurt and Karl. He planted 75 percent of his soybean acres to Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield and 25 percent to other Asgrow products. "I can't speak for other farmers, but on our farm if your yield averages get above 60, you're doing pretty well," he says. "We're really excited about this technology."

Brian Banks, Camden, Ohio

78.9 bushels per acre yield with Asgrow® Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield®

Banks has been farming since 1988 and raises corn, soybeans, alfalfa and registered Hereford and Angus cattle with his father, Doug. He planted half of his soybean acres to Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield in 2009 and half to other Asgrow products. "We saw quite a bit of a yield advantage with the new technology," he says, "anywhere from a 15-to-20-bushel-per-acre difference."

Ernest Schlatter has been raising corn and soybeans for the past 54 years. He currently farms with his wife, Barbara. "I figured there would be a yield increase with this new technology and there was; they yielded about 12 percent better than other soybeans I planted," he says.
